Extended Stay America Hotels: Washington, California, Oregon and Idaho
We have conducted more than 60 geotechnical engineering studies for Extended Stay America hotel facilities throughout the Northwest. The various locations and project scopes involved, inter alia, cement treatment to improve poor subsurface soil conditions, designing a methane collection system for a site near a landfill and developing foundation plans for sites with soft soils. GEO Group Northwest provided all earthwork monitoring and testing for the construction sites in western Washington, including site grading, subgrade preparation, foundation installation, utility trenching and backfilling, paving, structural fill placement and compaction testing.
Whole Foods Market, Redmond, Washington
This property was originally a lumberyard and garden supply business. The existing buildings were demolished and replaced with a new 52,000 sq ft grocery store and two new 15,000 sq ft retail buildings. We conducted a subsurface soil and groundwater investigation of the site, performed laboratory testing on soil samples, and prepared a report documenting our findings and recommendations for grading, foundations, slab-on-grade floors, drainage and pavements. Our firm performed construction monitoring and testing services for the project.
Yesler Tower Apartments, Seattle, Washington
The owners of this property in the Pioneer Square area of Seattle planned a thirteen-story apartment building that will occupy the entire site. We conducted a subsurface investigation of the site, researched public and historical records related to explorations in the vicinity, provided IBC seismic design parameters, foundation and shoring criteria, and recommendations for drainage considerations and use of backfill materials. Our firm provided construction monitoring and testing services for the project. As of February 2007 the project is still in progress.
Providence Medical Plaza, Snohomish County, Washington
This 15-acre site became a medical plaza with two large two-story medical buildings, a below ground parking garage, a four-story building, a new access boulevard, driveways and parking lots. Project challenges included the use of detention ponds and a sump pit, utilizing on-site soils for backfill, and developing basement and retaining wall design criteria. GEO Group Northwest provided quality assurance, testing services and construction monitoring throughout the project. Photo courtesy of Providence Health Systems.
Four Story Office Building, Seattle, Washington
We performed a geotechnical engineering study for this site near 23rd Avenue West and West Commodore Way. Due to the soil conditions and proximity to neighboring buildings, we prepared recommendations for over excavation and cement treatment of the building pad area. GEO Group Northwest provided construction monitoring services, including verifying soil bearing conditions, monitoring adjacent building movement, observing site excavation and subsurface drainage installation.
